Metro Phoenix has seen a surge of independent makers selling locally made goods everywhere you turn. It is hard to narrow it down, but these 5 local shops top my list…

Bungalow Furniture & Accessories

Location: 15330 North Hayden Suite #120, Scottsdale

This is my fave home store in Metro Phoenix, and a must-see stop when I’m looking for design inspiration. From furniture, artwork and accessories, to fashion and coffee table books, Bungalow never disappoints. Their room vignettes are fresh and fun, and they carry many of my go-to vendors.

Junk In The Trunk Vintage Market

Location: Scottsdale Quarter on the West End of the Quad, 4418 E. Osborn Road, Scottsdale

Owned by two amazing mompreneurs, their retail concept (both pop-up and permanent bricks & mortar) offers vintage finds, home decor, unique gifts, and modern wares from local artisans and curators, as well as goods from across the globe.

All of the merchandise is curated and hand-selected by the owners, and a percentage of every sale goes to organizations they’re passionate about. I love the “Cheers” (where everyone knows your name) vibe and the constantly changing inventory. When I’m designing a space, adding a bit of vintage to the mix is always fun.

Adelante Gallery

Location: Spanish Village, 7212 E. Ho Hum Rd. #14, Carefree

Adelante’s owner, Meg Witwer, is a delight! She’s been a friend for almost two decades, and I have yet to find a curator of art who can come close to Meg’s wit (pun intended), knowledge, and irreverent humor. Her gallery is as fun as she is – a wonderful mix of art (whether folk art or fine art), sculpture, and jewelry.

Meg has built relationships with local and international artists, and her gallery’s  “Dia de los Muertos” celebrations are not to be missed. I have several Adelante pieces in my own home, and love to share this gem with my design clients!

Tierra del Lagarto

Location: 15330 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale

Another women-owned local business, Tierra del Lagarto is the dream of a mother-daughter team. They specialize in the pieces that “make the room” – the interesting finds that start conversations. They travel to India, Indonesia, Morocco, Mexico, and Turkey each year, and bring back amazing accents, lighting, and furniture by the container-load.

Big Bronco

Location: 6602 East Cave Creek Road, Cave Creek

When you think Arizona style, you undoubtedly think “Western”! Faith Weinberg’s store, Big Bronco, reflects her passion for horses, antiques, and all things western. Full of one-of-a-kind accessories and home furnishings, as well as unique gifts and jewelry, it’s a fun place to visit, and one of my must-stop’s when looking for unique pieces for my client’s AZ vacation homes.

It’s also smack-dab in the center of the historic (and quirky) town of Cave Creek, which is a destination all on its own, with great venues for food, live music, cowboy bars, bronco busting, and people-watching!

Thanks so much for journeying through these shops with me. I hope they inspire you to shop local, and when you stop in, tell them Peg sent you!

Peg
